The Beaver Valley Bruce Trail Club is holding a fundraising event on Friday, May 23 at noon and Saturday May 24 at 8:00 a.m.
This event, which is being held at the Church of Christ, 113 Nelson Street West in Meaford, is featuring some new additions.
Besides the usual "yard sale treasures", there will be a Bake Sale, a Plant Sale and a Silent Auction. Everyone is invited to come and browse while enjoying a cup of coffee.
Proceeds from the sale will go the Bruce Trail Conservancy Escarpment Legacy Campaign.
This is a charitable organization committed to establishing a conservation corridor containing a public footpath along the Niagara Escarpment, in order to protect its natural ecosystems and to promote an environmentally responsible public access to this UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
The Bruce Trail, Canada's oldest and longest footpath, is one of the only 12 such reserves in all of Canada.
Joelle Martin, President of the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail, says, "Such fundraising events are essential if we are to continue to maintain and enjoy the beauty of the Bruce Trail, truly a 'Jewel of Southern Ontario' and so close to our own back door.
"It is satisfying to know that our fundraising efforts are contributing to the conservation of land in our section. In the last couple of years, at least five properties have been acquired, properties that we know will remain in their natural state to be enjoyed by all for many generations."
