If necessity is the mother of invention, then it may make sense for patent legal advice to be a subsidized or free government service.
At the moment, the province of Ontario is advertising that it is searching for new inventions that are based on energy saving devices.
The people who have invented energy saving devices are people who most likely needed to save energy to save money.
These people may have invented energy saving devices, but by the mere "financial savings" motivation of their invention, obviously would not have the money to develop a patent on this invention.
As a result, we are stalled. The inventions remain undiscovered while the manufacturers sit with quiet factories searching for green products to produce.
If the federal and provincial governments truly wanted to get productive in the manufacturing green products, they might want to consider free legal aid for patent reviews of "green" inventions.
This way, the inventors of energy saving devices and services could get their inventions to market and the market could get the manufacturing moving in Canada again.
