Last week the Rocklyn Junior Farmers made a $500 donation to Meaford's Lakeview Cemetery to help protect future swans that will take up residence in the cemetery's pond.
Earlier this year two swans at the park lost their lives after they were killed by wildlife believed to have been wolves.
One swan remains and the cemetery hopes to receive a couple more of the beautiful birds in the near future.
Cemetery Manager Dave Hardie said he expects to use the donated funds to put up a proactive barrier that will prevent the swans from wandering away from the pond in the future. Meaford councillor Gerald Shortt was on hand to receive the donation from the Junior Farmers.
"We really appreciate this. We're certainly thankful for your help in our community," he said.
