Editor,
It was with great trepidation that I read of the coming plans for the new Meaford Library. The idea of a new library in town is indeed wonderful, but among the sites mentioned I was horrified to read that McCarroll Park is an option.
I do realize that it is handy to the centre of town, but to choose a site full of beautiful mature trees and a children's play area with the only splash pool in town; an extremely popular and clever climbing gym and swings for the little ones makes me shudder.
Just to hear the delighted shrieks and yells from the youngest generation of Meaford on a hot summer's day wills surely impress upon the planners that McCarroll Park is not the future place for a library.
The park as it is with its will kept grass and garden, not to mention the picnic tables and shade is, in addition to the proximity of the Museum, a welcome vista and resting place for visitors to our town.
