Editor,
Thanks to 21 members of the Meaford and area 55+ Friendship Club and one Meaford friend who volunteered in Meaford on May 30 to help raise funds for the annual tag day of the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce, and to a public that reached deep into its pockets. It was cold and windy but the taggers persevered, knowing that the money raised in the area will be spent here to provide education, counselling services and support to persons with Alzheimer Disease and to their families and caregivers.
There are 2,500 persons over 65 years of age with Alzheimer Disease in Grey-Bruce, and by age 80, the statistic is one in three or four, according to Deborah Barker, executive director of the Society. Thanks again to Bill's Valu-Mart and Bob's Foodland for use of their premises. Approximately $800 was raised.
