Is council afraid of an operational review?

Editor,

The council and Mayor's recent decision to defeat the operational review for the Municipality is nothing short of amazing incompetence.

It is difficult to understand that the extra $5,000 cost to complete this report would be a deciding factor. Just look at the Municipalities history of extravagant spending (i.e. our current deficit).

There are no major corporations in today's business world that would or could run without current operational reviews or standards. It makes one wonder if council is afraid or concerned what an operational review would reveal.

Ongoing operational reviews are an imperative tool for management of any organization to run well. If the Municipality can't afford the $5,000 lets ask the overburden taxpayers to contribute. Of course, we would expect to see an unedited copy of the report and positive action taken on the recommendations made. I have my cheque book open and ready.
