The sun shone down on Meaford's veterans on Remembrance Day.
The Nov. 11 Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph attracted a large crowd, under beautiful skies and bright sunshine.
Veterans and active military personnel from LFCATC Meaford marching in the parade were greeted by loud applause from the hundreds of people that attended the ceremonies in downtown.
Babies, school age children and adults were all part of the large crowd that attended the ceremony to pay respect to Canadian soldiers that have served in conflicts to defend our freedom.
Steven Rice of Branch 32 of the Royal Canadian Legion led the ceremony and conducted the laying of the wreaths.
"I want to thank everybody for coming today. I see a lot of school children here today. Thank you," he told the audience.
Reverend Judith Oliver offered prayers during the services and led a prayer for Canadian soldiers still serving in various conflicts around the world.
"Keep them safe and bring them home soon and safely," said Reverend Oliver.
During the ceremony the Legion colour guard led a parade of veterans, soldiers from the military base and other organization such as the OPP, Fire Department, Coast Guard and Girl Guides.
Following the parade various individuals laid wreaths of remembrance at the Cenotaph.
