A Meaford man faces several criminal charges after Grey County OPP responded to a 9-1-1 call on January 26, 2010.
The 9-1-1 call was received just after 1:30 a.m. and officers responded to an address on Victoria Street in the town of Meaford. Attending officers were met by a male and an injured female. The female victim was transported to Grey Bruce Health Services-Meaford by ambulance and later transferred to the Owen Sound site. An investigation by police revealed that a female had been seriously assaulted by a male suspect. Further investigation revealed that the involved male was under court-imposed conditions to abstain from communicating with the female victim. The suspect was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
Charged with the Criminal Code offences of failing to comply with an undertaking, assault, uttering threats and overcoming resistance to commit an indictable offence is Tyler Waltenburgh, 22, of Meaford. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear next in the Ontario Court of Justice-Owen Sound on January 28, 2010.
