The relaxed crowd of near 200 wine lovers enjoyed a late summer evening being wined dined informed and entertained at the first of what will be an annual event - The Meaford Rotary International Wine Tasting
"We had experts from two major wine suppliers Corbys and Fosters, as well as well-known wine expert Steve Blender who presented a wine appreciation talk with advise on how to sniff and enjoy, in moderation, a good wine." says David Nathan, President of the Meaford Rotary Club.
Guests roamed around the Gallery level of the beautifully restored heritage building, Meaford Hall and tasted eight different wines as well as foods matching flavours with the wines prepared by local expert catering chef Christine Collins, with a focus on locally grown food
Dan Needles entertained the crowd throughout the evening and joined auctioneer Jim Snider in raising money through the generosity of people present and the events corporate partners.
Substantial funds were raised at this gala which will primarily be targeted to increase the support that the Rotary Club has been able to provide for positive opportunities in all aspects of the life for our local youth.
Phil Cant, the event coordinator said "this event has been far more successful than we had hoped. Everyone just had a great party and I have already booked the Meaford Hall for our second Gala in September next year."
