The Georgian Sound Big Band has announce donations in the amount of $3,500 to seven of the secondary school instrumental music programs in the area.

Each will receive $500.  The Georgian Sound Big Band hosts the annual Georgian Sound Festival, an incredible three-day music event during the last weekend in April:  Jazzmania on the Friday night, Big Band Saturday and Gospelfest on Sunday.  The festival is located in two neighbouring towns of Thornbury and Clarksburg, Ontario, attracting many people from Southern Georgian Bay and beyond.

The band's founder, the late Bob Cringan, was a musician, teacher and arranger as well as an untiring supporter of young musicians. The Georgian Sound Big Band continues to support youthful musical endeavours in several ways: providing annual music scholarships, making donations to music programs, while encouraging students all over Southern Georgian Bay to visit band rehearsals or become a band member.

Based on the success of the 16th festival hosted last April from the 27th to the 29th, the Georgian Sound Big Band is able to make these contributions to these music programs and share their love of music with young enthusiasts.

Representatives from each school were invited to receive their gift during a presentation at the band's 18th-annual Harvest Moon Dance, hosted at the Marsh Street Centre in Clarksburg.
