The third Thursday of each month will soon become known as movie day in Meaford.
The new Meaford Film Club is set to start its program, Thurs. Jan. 17, and will continue with one film each month through May.
A group of volunteers, with the support of the Meaford Hall Foundation, Meaford Hall staff, and the Toronto International Film Fetival have been working on the project and announced their first five films.
The Jan. 17 presentation will be Saint Ralph, followed by Away From Her, Thurs. Feb. 21; Becoming Jane, Thurs. Mar. 20; Introducing the Dwights, Thurs. Apr. 18; and Bon Cop, Bad Cop, Thurs. May 15. Each film will have two showings, at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Film clubs have sprung up across Canada for the purpose of bringing to smaller communities the same award-winning films that play in major theatres.
"At Meaford Hall, we have the best in technology and comfort to make for an entertaining and enriching evening of film," the organizers said.
Tickets are $10 per film or $40 for the complete series, and there is a 10-per-cent reducton for seniors.
Tickets can be purchased at the Meaford Hall box office, 12 Nelson St., Meaford, or call 519-538-0463.
