The Christmas Celebration event on November 24 was a huge financial success this year contributing significant funds to the Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation.
A small committee led by Chair Marjorie Davison with committee members Ted Brown, Liz Chalmers, Davina Kerr, Patti Page, Pauline Stanley, Sandy Richardson, and Mary Woods worked tirelessly to produce the second-annual event that once again was strongly supported by the community.
A very special feature of the celebration this year was a silent auction of seasonal delights including fully decorated Christmas trees, wreaths in two sizes, table centerpieces, and swags for walls, doors or mantles. Local organizations and individuals lovingly decorated these items as a fundraiser for the Foundation, and they proved to be a very popular part of the event.
The sold-out event raised in excess of $11,000 and Davison was pleased to present to Foundation Chair Barb Clumpus and Ted Brown a cheque to support ongoing programming in the Hall and new initiatives sponsored by the Foundation, including the formation of a cinema club.
The Meaford Hall & Culture Foundation is most appreciative of all those who supported this event and to the many volunteers who have contributed their time and talents to making it another huge success.
A special thank you goes to sponsors of the event, Bill MacDonald of MacDonald's ValuMart, and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts and to Marjorie Davison and her committee. Their strong and consistent support of Foundation events is critical to the success of the Foundation and through them the support of Meaford Hall, and is much appreciated.
