A reported auto theft turned out to be a case of forgetfulness Saturday, at Alpine Ski Club.
The Blue Mountains OPP said they were called to the ski club, on Arrowhead Rd., about 2:55 p.m., Feb. 16. The unidentified complainant reported their car was missing from the club's parking lot. The person still had the keys and was sure the car had been locked.
Police searched the area for broken glass or any signs of a break-in, but found nothing.
It turned out the car was equipped with the ON-STAR system, which can track vehicles using GPS technology. A check with ON-STAR located the car in the ski club parking lot. It turned out the owner had forgotten where he'd parked, the OPP said.
