Grey County OPP charged two impaired drivers with impaired driving and issued two 12-hour during the new long weekend.

Police arrested and charged a 20-year-old Wiarton man after they investigated a car in the ditch on Grey Road 17 in Georgian Bluffs. Police were investigating a vehicle in the ditch on Grey Rd 17 in Georgian Bluffs in the hamlet of Benallen at 3 a.m. on Saturday. The driver failed a breathalyzer test and was charged with impaired operation of the motor vehicle.

Then, at 12:15 a.m. on Monday, an officer stopped to check a vehicle that was stopped, running with the keys in the ignition and partly on the roadway on Grey Road 18 in Meaford.

The officer observed a male and female in  the back seat but as the cruiser pulled along side the male jumped behind the wheel. It was established that he had been drinking and he was given a roadside screening test which he failed. Subsequently he provided breathalyser tests which exceeded the legal limit.

A 19 year-old Owen Sound man has been charged with having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol behind the wheel.  He is scheduled to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 17.

In two other unrelated incidents, drivers failed roadside screening tests but the results of the subsequent breathalyser tests were below the chargeable level. In those cases, 12-hour suspensions were issued.
