OPP Constable Bob Sewell measures his daughter Abby's long hair for a pony tail cut with fellow Cops for Cancer participant Earl Graham.

It's that time of year again. OPP Constable Bob Sewell daughter Abby will get her long hair cut along with fellow Cops for Cancer participant Earl Graham.

Both Earl and Abby will be shearing off their long locks at the Meaford Shave-Off May 30.

"It's been five years since our first Cops for Cancer event in Meaford and to date we have raised $81,000," said Sewell. "Not only is it our fifth anniversary but also an opportunity for us to reach the $100,000 mark."

Meaford's Shave-Off starts at 6 p.m. at the Meaford Community Centre.

"Please consider taking part to help reach the goal or encourage or  challenge someone who has not yet participated to do so," he said. "When it's all said and done, it's to help our children."

Registration forms for those who wish to participate are now available at the Meaford OPP detachment. They can be picked up during business hours on weekdays. Funds raised are donated to the Canadian Cancer Society for pediatric cancer research.

The Meaford Cops for Cancer committee is looking for volunteers to help with the event. This will only include a couple of meetings prior to the event date. Anyone interested in helping call Bob Sewell at 519-538-1220 during business hours.
