As if dealing with the havoc on the roads caused by last Tuesday's storm wasn't enough, Meaford OPP had to deal with an erratic, intoxicated man from Mississauga.
Grey County OPP were on patrol on Sykes St. at around 7 p.m. when they spotted two citizens trying to help a man to his feet who was on the sidewalk. They flagged down a cruiser for assistance, but when the officers approached the man, he bared his teeth and grunted like an animal, swore at police and demanded to be driven home.
Instead, he was arrested and taken to the cells in Meaford, where he continued to resist police and had to be carried from the cruiser into the detachment.
The 46-year-old Mississauga man spent the night in the cells and was charged with public intoxication before being released in the morning.
