A Meaford woman who had trouble negotiating the Beer Store parking lot on Sunday afternoon was one of several impaired drivers arrested by Grey County OPP last week.
OPP report that on Sunday, March 30 at about 2:30 p.m. an off duty officer noticed a motorist having difficulty parking at the Beer Store in Meaford, at one point the car drove over a concrete curb. The officer arrested the female driver for impaired operation and turned her over to on-duty Grey County OPP officers. The 46-year-old Meaford woman was given a breathalyzer test and her results exceeded the legal limit.
The day before, police intercepted and stopped a silver pickup truck in Markdale at about 6:30 p.m. after a motorist with a cellphone had called police and indicated that a vehicle was being driven erratically.
The driver, a 66-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested, failed a breathalyzer test and was charged accordingly.
Later that night, at about 9:30 p.m, on Highway 6 near Williamsford a vehicle went through a police radar in excess of 50 km/h above the speed limit. The patrol car followed the vehicle with emergency lights activated but the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed, before turning quickly into a driveway.
The driver exited and was arrested for failing to stop for the police as he walked toward the residence. He failed a roadside screening test and breathalyser tests. The 31-year-old Chatsworth man was charged with the Criminal Code offences of impaired driving and flight from police.
Then at 6 a.m. on Monday morning, an off-duty OPP officer reported a car being driven erratically on Highway 10 in the Holland Centre area.
The driver indicated he was en route to work and tired. The 50-year-old Markdale man was given a roadside screening test which he failed.
