Grey County OPP say drivers have spring fever and are paying the price as a result.

The OPP noted a spike in the number of stunt driving charges provincewide over this past weekend

"After months of treacherous winter driving, the sunny skies and dry roads of this weekend past were a welcome change," said Grey County OPP Media Relations officer Constable Steven Starr.

"Some drivers, however, see it as an opportunity to push the limits or become complacent in paying attention to the speed they are driving."

Locally, at about 6 p.m. on Friday, a pickup truck went through a police radar in the village of Desboro at just under 60 km/h over the posted speed limit. It was sunny and the roads were dry at the time of the incident.

The 19-year-old female driver from Hanover has been charged with stunt driving by exceeding the speed limit by over 50 km/h. Her vehicle has been impounded and driver's licence seized for seven days.
