Georgian Bay Secondary School (GBSS) students were hungry for change last week taking part in the World Vision 30-Hour Famine.

Student humanitarian group, SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) organized the famine and it is an annual tradition at GBSS. The event raises funds for World Vision in their efforts to fight global poverty through donations and is designed to give participants a sense of what millions of people in developing countries experience every day.

This year, over 50 students partook in the famine, raising over $4,000, an impressive sum that can feed and care for a child for a day.

"It's great to see young people getting involved and making a difference with this event," said SAVE Co-President Amber Campbell of the incredible turn out.

Following the success of the 30 Hour Famine, SAVE will be hosting their annual charity dinner in the first week of June.
