Grey County OPP is looking for information that might assist in identifying the person or persons who killed a domesticated swan Monday night at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford.

Lakeview Cemetery kept three swans on the property for the enjoyment of those attending the grounds. The three swans were just returned to the pond days ago and they were observed at 5 p.m. on Monday evening to be in good health.

Tuesday morning just after 8 a.m., one of the swans was found floating dead in the pond while another is missing. A puncture wound, consistent with an entry wound associated to a small-calibre firearm, was found behind the wing of the bird found dead in the pond.

Anyone with information that might assist in identifying the culprit(s) is asked to contact Grey County OPP or Crime Stoppers. Constable Brad Tichbourne is the investigating officer.
