Local Green Party and community members met their two possible candidates in the next federal election, Dick Hibma and Michael Schmidt at Party Leader Elizabeth May's presentation April 24.
Both candidates were introduced as "the next MP for Grey-Bruce Owen Sound" and delivered brief speeches on why they would be the best choice for the Party.
"The colour of hope is green," said Schmidt, who announced his candidacy as a way of becoming directly involved with government. "We need to start where we are and we need to lead by example."
Hibma, a former Owen Sound city councillor and chair of the Grey-Sauble Conservation Authority decided to run to use his environmental experience as a way of changing government policy.
Local members of the Green Party will be meeting at the Bayshore Community Centre on June 5th to elect their candidate for the next election.
